Coffee Beans | Brazil

Coffee makes the most sound. The sound of the grinder. The beans, the sacred brown beans. The East India Company that brought the coffee beans to Europe in the 1500s. If Paolo has lived past lives, it was he and no one else who brought this priceless gift to Europe.

Coffee

ENG. Coffee: Olive Oil, Cheese, and Coffee. These are the three*. And that is how you know the man behind the drums. Without these three, the very backbone is hollow.

Coffee makes the most sound. The sound of the grinder. The beans, the sacred brown beans*. The East India Company that brought the coffee beans to Europe in the 1500s. If Paolo has lived past lives, it was he and no one else who brought this priceless gift to Europe.

What have the Romans ever done for us?

Well... Paolo brought coffee.

Italians* have a better sense of smell than northerners, said Paolo. You have an extra flap, he believed, to protect against the cold. We Italians don't have that, you said. You don't know how to do this. Unfortunately. The ladies in Norway can't walk in high-heeled shoes either. You were meant to carry firewood from house to house and cannot stroll like us Central Europeans. You have no culture.

Coffee is no longer just coffee after Paolo. Like a wild boar finding truffles with its distinguished nose*, Paolo found the best from several continents and blended the brown beans into his own composition*. Ethiopia, Vietnam, and roasted in most beautiful Italy.

Composition in music, composition in coffee. It is all about hitting that exact note (tommy). That is why I sent some beans along with you on your final journey.

NOR (ORIG.) Kaffe: Olivenolje, Ost og Kaffe. Dette er de tre. Og slik kjenner du mannen bak trommene. Uten disse tre er selve grunnstammen hul.

Kaffe lager mest lyd.

Komposisjon i musikk, komposisjon i kaffe. Det handler om å treffe akkurat den tonen (tommy). Derfor sendte jeg med deg noen bønner på din siste reise.

FARM DICTIONARY, OUR WORDS

THE THREE
Olive oil. Cheese. Coffee. The three things upon which civilisation apparently rests.

SACRED BROWN BEANS
Coffee beans. Obviously. But apparently not merely coffee beans.

One, two, three, four... some beans.

We have moved on from advanced mathematics*.

COMPOSITION
Something you do with music. Apparently also something you do with coffee. The important thing is hitting the exact note.

THE DISTINGUISHED NOSE
Useful for finding truffles. Also apparently useful for finding the best coffee beans.

ITALIANS
According to Paolo, better at smelling things. Also better at walking in high heels. We make no further claims.

* ADVANCED MATHEMATICS
The art of counting beans, managing stock, or calculating farm shop finances. Characterized by methods closely resembling Baldrick's legendary bean-counting system, where exact numbers are viewed more as a flexible guideline.
